Club Cycliste Charlevoix offers kids from 5 to 15 years old the opportunity to mountain bike and learn skills in a friendly, safe, and supervised environment behind Laiterie Charlevoix buildings.
NEW IN 2024
Categories
As last year’s formula was a success, we’re keeping the groups by objective for 2024, but adding a new group! If your child wants to push a little harder, is aged 9 or over, and is aiming for XC competitions, the “Gaz au boutte” group is for him!
FQSC recreational licenses must be purchased directly at registration for all sections except “Gaz au boutte”. Competitive licenses must be purchased on the FQSC website. Please note that membership of the FQSC ensures that you are adequately insured when you ride on all the above-mentioned sites. It is therefore essential that you become a member for yourself and your child.
Platform
In order to simplify operations, we have joined the Clubs Studio platform. This platform will enable us to better manage transactions, communications and volunteering, as well as better equip our coaches.
Before registering your child, you’ll need to create a profile as a parent. Then add your family members (including ex-spouses). Only training participants have the title of athlete. Please do not choose this option if you are an adult. Also, do not add a child under training age.
Clothing
This year, we’re changing our design and offering you a wide range of clothing choices! It’s important to note that, due to the minimum quantities required, this offer will only be valid this year. We therefore encourage you to anticipate your needs for the next three years. The following year will mark a return to normal, with only a few options available. The online store is provided in collaboration with Apogée. A 5@7 fitting will be organized before the boutique opens!
VOLUNTEERING
We feel very fortunate to be able to carry on with our activities despite the prevailing labour shortage situation. We will count on an amazing team of parents volunteers to train our young riders! Other parents will also be asked to contribute by providing a minimum of 8 hours of volunteering per family of children members. If you do not wish to help with your time, a $130 fee per registration will be added.
PROGRAMS DESCRIPTIONS
We ask you to enroll your child in the most appropriate program, the one that best suits her or his expectations and cycling motivation. After a week or two, we will conduct on our own evaluation in order to make sure that every rider is in the relevent program according to her or his age groups and skill levels.

RACING
Our club encourages all of its young riders wishing to enter XC races of the regional and provincial circuits. Riders of the club’s most advanced programs will benefit of pre-race trainings. For the time being however, the club is not in a position to provide support during the races. This said, we are fortunate to count amongst the club members a group of parents very involved in racing who would love to help.
VELO 101
Please make sure that your kid’s bike is well tuned-up at the beginning of the season and regularly perform mechanical inspections throughout the summer. A helmet and full-cover shoes are mandatory. Cycling gloves and protecting gear are strongly recommended.
Young riders must be self-reliant; they must wear clothing adapted to the prevailing weather conditions, carry enough water for the activities along with a spare tube.
A mountain bike with functioning transmission system and brakes are required for the club’s more advanced training programs so no one is left behind the group.
