Baie-Saint-Paul, May 11, 2023 – Vélo Charlevoix has been the official organizing committee of the Grands Rendez-Vous Cyclistes de Charlevoix (GRVCC) for 25 years now. The cycling season begins each year in the region with a diversified program. This year, the calendar will unfortunately be disrupted due to heavy flooding that took over the town of Baie St-Paul last Monday. Indeed, one of our event sites, Camping Le Genévrier, was severely damaged. Several meetings have been held in the last few days to evaluate the feasibility of the events. The organization would like to provide an update on the current situation regarding the GRVCC.

Good news for the Grand Prix Cycliste de Charlevoix, the 4-stage road race taking place from June 9th to 11th presented by SITEC North America, as well as for the Granfondo on June 11th presented by the Hôtel & Spa Le Germain Charlevoix, will take place as planned! We are confident that the road repairs are well underway and that the course of these two events will not be affected. We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful region to enjoy the impressive winding roads once again.

An uncertain regional cup – As for the Charlevoix Cup presented by Pharmacie Jean Coutu – succursale Lyne Dufour, scheduled for June 3rd, we will unfortunately not be able to hold the event on the planned date. However, we are trying to find solutions so that it can be postponed.

A postponement full of conviction – Given the circumstances, the Quebec/Canada Cups presented by the MicroBrasserie de Charlevoix, will not be held as planned on May 26, 27 and 28. We feel the enthusiasm for this event, whether it be from the athletes, the partners or the team. It is a mythical race for the mountain bike community, so it is essential for us to coordinate its holding. We want to avoid cancellations, which is why we are trying to reschedule the events to a later date before the end of the season. Vélo Charlevoix is in discussion with the cycling authorities, the event partners, as well as representatives of the targeted locations in order to evaluate the feasibility. We are confident that we will be able to achieve this feat!

The Grands Rendez-Vous des Petits presented by Desjardins will unfortunately not be held on May 27, 28 and June 3. They will be moved to the same time as the Canada/Quebec Cup and Charlevoix Cup.

Thank you for your understanding,

 Vélo Charlevoix team
